The Benefits of Window Tinting
The benefits of having either your vehicle's windows tinted or your conservatory or commercial premises are numerous to say the least with each type of application offering different benefits.
Automotive Window Tinting
Window tints can enhance the look of your car on the exterior with most Professional Window Tinting companies stocking a range of colours and shades that should suit most vehicles. Window tints are not only for aesthetic reasons but window film can offer privacy for the occupants or contents within the vehicle. Quite often you can see limousines with the windows blacked out and commercial vehicles with the windows tinted to prevent the casual passerby from seeing the tool contents in the back. Applying window film to your vehicles windows can also resist glass shattering in the event of an accident or even deter burglars from entering the vehicle via the windows. If safety is of the utmost importance there are a range of safety films that can be fitted to the glass to prevent shattering and ingress to the vehicle.
As well as enhancing the exterior, window film can do much to protect the interior of your car and occupants. Leather seats are particularly vulnerable to the sun's harmful rays with prolonged exposure leading to brittle, cracked and discoloured leather. Most modern films contain UV blockers which will cut 99% of these harmful rays thus offering the interior some protection against damage. This is also particularly useful for the occupants of the vehicle since these UV rays are also responsible for causing skin damage particularly in young children.
Professional Window Tinting Dorset use film which is scratch resistant and will not peel or fade away after a few weeks or months like do-it-yourself tinting kits sometimes will. Once professionally installed and cured good quality film should last a lifetime against these problems and their no-metal technology means you don't have to worry anymore about reflectivity, corrosion, or interference with electronic devices such as mobile phones or satellite navigation. A car window tinting professional will provide a warranty on the tint. Depending on the type of film you purchase you may even get a lifetime warranty on the tint that is transferable to any future owners of the car. Here at Window Tinting in Dorset we provide a lifetime warranty on the film backed up by the manufacturer.
There are many different shades and grades of tint available and also stringent rules on which windows the film can be fitted to. For these reasons it is a good idea to consult a professional before deciding on what tint you should get for your car's windows. Doing this will save you from having to remove a do-it-yourself kind of tint that will usually not be of high quality and may be illegal.
Residential Window Tinting
If you have ever relaxed in your conservatory during the hot summer months and looked at the temperature you will realise how hot and uncomfortable it actually is. Window film can significantly reduce the heat and glare in the summer often presented by the midday sun. Window film is easily applied and looks great year after year. As with vehicle tints, residential window film comes in a variety of colours and finishes so you can completely customize the look of your home while keeping your protection needs in mind.
Having curtains and blinds drawn during the summer will cut out lots of light and let's face it, no one wants to keep their curtains drawn when the weather outside is beautiful and sunny. With window film on your windows you can keep your curtains or blinds wide open and enjoy your views with the application of window tinting. Good window tinting film products block out over 95% of heat-causing infrared light and nearly all of the UV light that causes furniture fading. You never have to worry about the changing angles of the sun either as window tinting protects all year long. As well applying film to glass, window film can also be applied to polycarbonate roofs as they let in a lot of heat during the summer months.
Most homeowners don't think about how much heat is streaming through the windows until the problem gets really severe during the height of summer. During these summer months most good window tinting companies get inundated with requests for services and soon get booked up. If you wait till then you may not be able to get the relief you're looking for when you need it most and you may not get most out of your summer room.
Now is the time to act before it's too late and order your window tinting installation from the professionals. Be prepared!!

Testing the pressure of AC unit
I turned on my central air and found no cooling. I bought a set of AC service gauges to test the pressure of the suction, or low pressure side(large insulated pipe) and the pressure of the liquid, or high pressure side (little pipe). You do this by attaching the screw on hose plugs from the gauges to the little service valve plugs located on the outdoor condensing unit. They are like bicycle valves and must be screwed on completely to open the valve stems and get a reading.
I had almost no pressure on the high side which told me that I had lost all my freon through a leak somewhere.
The best way to find a leak is to get a bottle of nitrogen, a regulator, and a compatable hose to one of the service valves. Presurize the system with NO MORE THAN 200 lbs of Nitrogen. This is more than enough pressure to find a leak, and not so much pressure to explode your plumbing. This is done by making sure the out side of the regulator is dialed down to less than 200lbs.
Once you find the leak, you can repair it by brazing it, or even epoxy if it is in the fine plumbing of the evaporator unit.
Then you must evacuate the system with a vacuum pump, check for leaks (watch the vacuum stay consistant with the pump off and closed for a while), and then recharge with freon.
Good luck

Window Efficiency
With the new ENERGY STAR criteria in effect as of January 2010, the Efficient Windows Collaborative updated its state fact sheets. In addition to the new ENERGY STAR specs these new fact sheets show updated energy cost estimates for various window options in a typical home using new modeling assumptions from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory’s 2008 ENERGY STAR analysis and replacing earlier estimates derived with RESFEN 5.0. Changes in typical residential building energy properties due to new codes and equipment standards are taken into account by these revised assumptions. To reflect new trends in window design, EWC has also revised some of the generic window options shown on the fact sheets. For instance, low-E glazing with very low SHGC properties has become more widely available, as have dual-pane windows with U-factors of 0.30 or lower. These changes will also be reflected in the EWC Window Selection Tool, which is currently being revised.
